Thomas Alan Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American musician, composer, songwriter, and actor. His music style was original in jazz during the 1970s, but his music since the 1980s has become more experimental and moved into blues and rock.

Foreign Affairs is an album by Tom Waits, released in 1977 on Elektra Entertainment. It was produced by Bones Howe, and featured Bette Midler singing a duet with Waits on “I Never Talk to Strangers”.
