Declan Patrick MacManus (born 25 August 1954), better known by his stage name Elvis Costello, is an English musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer. He first came to prominence in 1977 with his debut album “My Aim Is True”. He was then joined by his backing band, The Attractions (Pete Thomas on drums, Steve Nieve on keyboards and Bruce Thomas on bass guitar) who played with him through the 1980’s. Bruce Thomas departed in the 1990’s and was replaced by Davey Farragher, since then the backing band have been known as The Imposters.

Armed Forces is Elvis Costello’s third album, his second with the Attractions, and the first to officially credit the Attractions on the cover. It was released in the UK by Radar Records and in the U.S. by Columbia in 1979. The album had the working title Emotional Fascism.
